Note that the CERN school seems oriented to the computing needs of the LHC community. This tends to 'throughput' computing rather than to 'performance' computing. I'm not sure whether you intend to keep this same emphasis. We'd probably need to have a broader range of emphases in order to get critical mass of participants. -- Guy Alan Sill wrote: > Some of the links in this message are unduly long and have extra > characters at the end, but they can all be reached by going to the CSC > home page at > > http://csc.web.cern.ch/csc/ > > Some items in the references sections of each of the main theme pages > are worth pursuing. > > Should we consider doing a local Texas equivalent? > > Alan > > Begin forwarded message: > >> From: "Lucia Silvestris" >> Date: April 17, 2008 6:56:28 AM CDT >> To: hn-cms-cmpAnnounce@cern.ch >> Subject: [Fwd: REMINDER: CERN School of Computing 2008: Registration >> - Deadline 1st of may 2008!] >> >> >> *** Discussion title: Computing Project Announcements >> >> ________________________________ >> >> Dear colleague, >> >> This is a reminder that the registration to CERN School of Computing >> (CSC2008) will close within 12 days, the 1st of May 2008. >> >> Please find below the details of the programme >> > as well as how to apply >> > . >> >> Feel free to distribute this notice as appropriate. >> >> Best Regards. >> >> Fabienne Baud-Lavigne >> >> Administrative Manager, CERN School of Computing >> >> http://cern.ch/csc >> >> CSC 2008 >> > >> > 25 August - 5 September 2008 in Gj?vik, Norway >> > >> Organised by CERN > collaboration with the the Gj?vik > University College > Oslo > >> Application period now open >> > >> >> Programme highlight >> >> GRID Technologies >> > >> delivers unique theoretical and hands-on education on the most >> advanced GRID topics >> >> Base Technologies >> > >> addresses the most relevant underlying technologies for software >> development security, networking, hardware architecture >> >> Physics Computing >> > >> focuses on the particular challenges the HEP community is facing for >> the LHC computing >> >> Note: registration is for the entire programme.
