Hi Dan,
Thanks for agreeing to put us in touch with those who should be
invited to the US LHC Science Requirements Data & Networking workshop
for our region, to be held Wednesday Feb. 22 at Texas A&M University.
We intend to invite all relevant high energy physics personnel in the
region to help define the science requirements for networking and
data transfer. Registration pages are up now for this meeting at the
URL:
https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=536
The following additional page giving the results of a US-wide LHC
meeting on the same topic may provide talks that will be of good
background interest:
https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=420
There will be a handful of such workshops throughout the US focusing
on the science needs for data transfer and involving discussions
between scientists and networking people in each region. The success
of these workshops depends on having good engagement between the
science, computing and networking communities in each area across a
large number of institutions.
We look forward to talking with others in the LEARN management, and
to having them call this series of meetings to their attention so
that we can make progress against the important challenge of moving
and processing LHC data. As Project Director for the Texas High
Energy Grid, and as the lead member of the development team for
TIGRE, I can assure you of the high degree to which making progress
in this area will lead to further progress on even more general-
purpose science with grid computing in the future.
