[THEGrid] Fwd: US-CMS LHC announcement

Please call this to the attention of the high energy physicists at
your institutions as soon as possible. In addition to other
networking work going on in conjunction with LEARN, the Internet2
effort has recently launched a collaborative relationship with DOE's
Energy Sciences net (ESNet), in the context of which it is hosting a
series of meetings at various locations to try to understand the
needs of the Tier 2 and Tier 3 LHC-related efforts throughout the
country, and is meeting with the physicists at each of these locations.

We have been able to get such a meeting arranged with Rich Carlson of
Internet2 for Valentine's Day, Wed. Feb 14, at Texas A&M and would
like to take advantage of the proximity of this date to the TIGRE
developers meeting to be held a TAMU Feb. 15-16. This will represent
a chance for the high energy physics community to come to TAMU to
describe directly to Rich and to representatives of LEARN their needs
for moving LHC-related data over the next few years. The importance
of this meeting to high energy physics networking development over
the near-term future is high, and I would strongly suggest attendance
or the sending of a representative to this meeting.

We are working with our colleagues at Texas A&M to get a location.
Please let me know and/or contact me by e-mail or phone if you have
any questions.
